THE NIGHT DEWEY FELL FROM THE SKY

AND INTO OUR LAPS!

We were driving through the Deschutes National Forest for a family camping trip the night Dewey was rescued from the wilderness. Susan spotted him first as he darted across the road and into her headlights. "What the heck is a Chiwawa doing in the middle of the woods?!?" she yelled. Mom stopped the car and when she and Lane jumped out and called out to the pitch black night, all they could here were little dog toenails scraping against the asphalt and suddenly this little dog jumped right up into Lane's arms. His nose was crusty and dry and his sides sunk in. He inhaled a chicken sandwich and quickly slurped up some fresh water. He had no collar ad after checking with rangers for a report of a lost dog, it seemed he had been abandoned in the middle of the woods. It only took us about 2 seconds after meeting this dog to know that he was meant for us. That whole week of camping he went everywhere that we did - he even slept in our tent.

We don't know his story, but so far we're convinced he's a Chiweagle - a Chiwawa Beagle Mix. Stranger things have happened!

Now he's with us on our roadtrip and move to New York. He's made friends in West Glacier, barked at buffalo and prarie dogs, visited Mt. Rushmore, and gobbled up some of the best BBQ chicken in Youngstown, Ohio. He's a fantastic little dog. We love him!
